Blewitt Springs Community Hall on 2 acres adjacent to the Blewitt Springs Nature Reserve and the Onkaparinga council's public tennis courts and BBQ area.
History
In October 1956, the first community meeting to discuss building a community hall was held., The decision to build the hall unanimous and the Committee was established to begin raising funds was quickly established. Film evenings, scrap-metal collections, selling waste paper. and numerous raffles were organised. Many dances and variety evenings were held in McLaren Flat Hall.
Then in 1957 the Hall Committee was incorporated into the Blewitt Springs Community Hall and Progress Association and purchased a special block of two acres from the Department of Lands right next to the Blewitt Springs Nature Reserve
The Hall was officially opened 21 September 1963, with a kitchen extension added in 1974. The hall was used to host community events for the local school, sporting clubs and more.
The Blewitt Springs Community Hall and Progress Association continues to be made up of local Blewitt Springs volunteers who manage the hall for the benefit of the community. The hall has more recently been hired out for events such as wedding receptions, family celebrations and training courses.
